Cristiano Ronaldo: Why Juventus star missed Brescia Serie A win

Cristiano Ronaldo didn't play for Juventus against Brescia today. And that’s because, with the Old Lady entering a decisive point in their Serie A season, Maurizio Sarri opted to rest the 35-year-old.

Ronaldo has been in stunning form for Juventus this season, scoring 22 goals across all competitions and contributing two assists along the way.
The Portugal international’s goal tally is considerably more than Paulo Dybala, who has struck nine times, and Gonzalo Higuain (7).
Juventus faced Brescia on Sunday afternoon aiming to bounce back after a disappointing defeat to Verona in their last Serie A match.
And they did just that, with Dybala and Juan Cuadrado both on target.
Juventus entered the match sitting second in the league table, behind Antonio Conte’s high-flying Inter Milan.

At the age of 35, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star is entering the twilight years of his career.
And with Juventus having some big games ahead, Sarri deemed it the right time to give the veteran a breather.
The Old Lady have four games in 11 days coming up.
Juventus face SPAL on February 22 before going up against Lyon in the Champions League four days later.
On March 1, Juve have their big Serie A showdown with title rivals Inter.
